Services

Consulting

As with any legislation, engaging experts who can advise on the most efficient and cost effective methods to comply makes good business sense. Our team of certifiers and advisers can advise before works are completed to avoid unnecessary rectification, during the process to ensure works are on the right track and                                        can certify your works for compliance with all relevant legislation, after completion.

On an ongoing basis, we can help you ensure compliance by maintaining registers and gaining certification                                        on works when new penetrations or works occur.

For new buildings, we can assist in the selection, approval and installation QA, liaise with building certifiers,                                        fire engineer, QFES etc, to ensure full compliance on hand over.  This can save enormously on costs plus                                            provides peace of mind.

Passive Fire Support and Hotline

Do you need an instant answer whilst on site?  Are you keeping up to date with new products and legislation?  We know what it’s like to need on site support and to have to get back to clients after doing hours of time consuming research, and then maybe not even being sure you’ve got it right!  What do the test reports say, is there a Dts system for this work, what are the solutions to this problem that I’m looking at?

So we have built a support team to do just this for us.  Imagine showing a client a picture of a drawing whilst onsite, or whilst you’re inspecting Level 2, the team in the background are coming up with answers for the basement!

You can access our support network, webinars on topical issues and all sorts of information through this service.

Inspections

To comply with the Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulations 2008, the occupier of a building must ensure each prescribed fire safety installation for the building is inspected and tested at regular intervals. This includes all current and new passive fire installations and penetrations. Our certifiers can carry out these inspections and also show you how to maintain compliance from then on.

Certifications

All passive fire installations in a building must be certified as complying with the Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulations 2008. Our inspectors can advise on what is required when constructing a new building BEFORE incorrect work is carried out, and preventing costly mistakes. Once completed, it’s a simple process to have the works certified with a required Form 16.

Our certifiers are licensed in the areas covering passive fire walls and ceilings, and joint sealing.

Project Management

Often after the preparation of baseline data, or inspection of passive fire installations, rectification work is required. Our Plus Passive Fire experts can price and scope all rectification works required and then manage the tender process through to completion, supervise the repair work and ensure compliance and certification.

Baseline Data on penetrations

Baseline data is important to have to avoid unnecessary updating and recording of building data. Where baseline data is not available, it can be re-established at the commencement of a routine service and maintained and readily available at the premises. Plus Passive Fire inspectors create the register of passive fire penetrations and provide assistance to maintain the data for the future, reducing the cost of future inspections.

Sectors

Construction

Whether a new build or additions and repairs to an existing building, it pays to get advice on the passive fire requirements BEFORE work starts. This can avoid costly re works and there’ll be no issues when it comes to the certification when complete. When choosing passive fire protection products, it is important to ensure that they have been tested to the relevant and current Australian standards.

Strata Managers/Body Corporates

The Queensland Building Fire Safety Regulations 2008 require residential buildings which provide long term living for a number of unrelated persons, to have an annual maintenance schedule for passive fire installations, including penetrations.  The passive fire systems are required to comply with the Act at all times. Our services can begin with the compilation of baseline data or a register of the penetrations, preparation of a scope of works and cost estimate if repairs are required and ongoing advice to ensure compliance on any new works in the building.

Health

If you own or operate a health care or aged care building, you are required to have six monthly inspections of all passive fire safety installations to ensure that the features continue to provide compliant passive fire safety outcomes for the building.

Once baseline data has been determined or established, ongoing inspections will be less time consuming and costly.

Facility Management

For ongoing works that create penetrations it’s vital to ensure compliance with legislation. Get in touch with one of our experts for installation and compliance advice prior to certification, or to certify works that require the legislative Form 16.

Our team can carry out audits or regular inspections to ensure the initial installations remain continually compliant.

Service Contractors

Whether you’re a plumber, electrician, air-conditioner technician or active fire technician, there is always a requirement to have the penetrations your work may create, certified as complying for Queensland fire legislation. We can work with you when passive fire certifications may be outside your area of expertise by providing advice, registers and labelling.

Office fitouts

As for builders, facility managers and service contractors, it’s important to get any penetrations that are the result of works, certified for compliance with the Queensland Fire Regulations.  Also establishing the compliance of existing penetrations BEFORE you start can save time and money.

Work with an adviser from the beginning to ensure that time consuming and costly rectifications are avoided.
